How Many Photos Do You Have on Your Computer>?
ive got wayyyy too many.
i have 6 "picture" folders with anywhere from 800-1000 pics in each. i need to get to printing!

I'd say over 5000. I statred putting them on disc a while ago, but never finished & now I've added so many more

Last count was almost 5000..way too many. I need to do something about saving them elsewhere because they are causing my machine to move super slow.

make a data cd to either a cd or a dvd
On a DVD, you can fit about 800 pictures (depending on the size) onto a dvd and about 125ish on a CD
Its recommened you back it up else if you hard drive fails, you may lose all your pictures
Easy way to check how many you have, right click on your picture folders, and select properties. On the bottom part of the window, it will give you file and folder count (assumeing you only have pictures in the folder)

you need to defrag your machine.
placement of files doesn't matter depending on your application in use..in your case..location has no effect

It's better to save them to an external hard drive. Barbara just posted recently an article that photos saved to CD will only last 7 years. I'll try to find the link, it was on parenting.
